Pre-Rolled Cones: a quick guide

Which size? A 1¼ cone (about 84 mm) is the everyday single-person size. A king size cone (about 109 mm) holds more, for sharing. Shorties (53 mm, Blazy Susan) are for a quick session.

How many? Small packs of 3 or 6 are the way to try a brand. Packs of 20 cost less per cone, and RAW Black's 20-pack comes with a loader that makes filling faster. Once you know what you like, RAW Classic in 75-packs is the best value per cone.

Which paper? RAW Classic is unbleached and burns slow and even. RAW Black is thinner, for a cleaner taste. OCB Virgin and Vibes Ultra Thin are also thin, unbleached papers. Blazy Susan's pink and purple cones are colored papers that smoke like any other. Blazy Susan's tea and rose cones are made from tea leaves and rose petals instead of paper.

Filling tips. Fill in small amounts and tap the cone on the table as you go, so it packs evenly from the tip up. Leave a few millimeters at the top, then twist it closed.
